IIBA Certification

The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) was founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization to promote the growth and professionalism of business analysis. Part of IIBA’s vision is to build its image and become identified as the professional organization for BA professionals. It is also focused on identifying BA skills and competencies, and certifying practitioners based on them.

One of the main creations of the IIBA has been its Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (called the BABOK for short or sometimes just the BOK). The BABOK is a guide to the generally accepted knowledge and practices in the BA profession. The other significant creation has been the CBAP certification: Certified Business Analysis Professional.

IIBA Certification Path

Importance of IIBA Certification

Be it an individual or a business, to thrive and grow the key element is the continuous thirst for knowledge. This thirst for knowledge can be quenched by continuing with education and certification programs. IIBA certifications provide an independent assessment of one’s capabilities, which can be a significant benefit when it comes to landing certain clients or projects. Certified business analysts undoubtedly have a broader perspective of the BA techniques and approaches. Here are a few other reasons to choose IIBA certifications-

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the skills necessary to be an effective Business Analyst
  • A professional level of competence in the principles and practices of business analysis
  • Participation in a recognized professional group
  • Recognition of professional competence by professional peers and management
  • Advanced career potential by creating a separate and distinct career path within the information technology industry and business community
  • Demonstrated dedication to the Business Analysis profession

Market Demand for Vendor Certification

The business analyst (BA) role has become essential in today’s workplace as a vital component of a successful project. The business analysis field has been accelerating at a rapid pace, and this acceleration has caused some understandable growing pains. Companies have hired more IIBA recipients in recent years owing to their skill sets and expertise in business analysis. One of the reasons business analysts are in high demand is because their job cannot be automated and business analysis requires a human touch.
