About Okta Certified Professional Practice Exam

The Okta Certified Professionals is suitable for candidates who wish to possess knowledge about secure identity management and mobility concepts. The candidates will gain hands-on experience in completing day-to-day operational tasks to support users of the Okta service. Moreover, professionals will gain familiarity with Okta technology and processes related to simple directory integration, single-sign-on federation, and application provisioning aspects of User Life Cycle Management.

Who should take the Okta Professional Exam?

Candidates who plan to take the Okta Certified Professional certification exam must meet the following minimum requirements - 

• One-year experience in a technical role, working in security and/or identity management
• Three- to six-months of on-the-job experience working with the Okta service
• Successful completion of Okta Basics Curriculum or equivalent training

Also, roles within different organizations may vary, but in general, the candidates for the Okta Certified Professional ex are generally involved in defining secure identity strategies or assisting with daily operation and support of Okta instances. Candidates for this certification may be Okta Administrators, implementation consultants, identity leaders, project managers, business app owners, or help desk administrators.

Exam Details

• Number and Types of Questions: 60 Discrete Option Multiple-Choice (DOMC) items
• Time Allotted: 90 minutes
• Exam Fee: 250 USD (100 USD for each subsequent retake)
• Prerequisites: None

Exam Scoring

Test takers can be assured that the DOMC item type is scored fairly and with precision.

• If a test taker is presented with a correct option and responds YES, then that response is scored as “correct". A DOMC item can be programmed to require one or more correct responses in order to be complete and to be considered answered correctly. Typically, however, only one correct response is required.
• If a test taker is presented with a correct option and responds NO, then that item is scored as “incorrect”.
• If a test taker is presented with an incorrect option and responds YES, then that item is scored as “incorrect”.
• If a test taker is presented with an incorrect option, and that test taker responds NO (technically, a correct response), scoring of the item is postponed and another option is presented.

MODULE 1 - Identity and Access Management (22.5%)

Industry Knowledge

• Demonstrate knowledge of IAM and IDaaS and how they relate to Okta

Single Sign-On (SSO) Federation

• Based on a given use case, demonstrate knowledge of whether SAML, WS-FED, or OIDC should be used
• Demonstrate knowledge of IdP versus SP initiated flows
• Demonstrate knowledge of the benefits of using federation vs. password vaulting
• Demonstrate knowledge of how SWA is used in Okta
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic troubleshooting of the Okta Browser plug-in

Single Directory Integration

• Demonstrate knowledge of the Active Directory integration options with Okta

MODULE 2 - User Lifecycle Management (45.5%)

Okta as a Directory

• Demonstrate knowledge of the purpose of Universal Directory
• Demonstrate knowledge of custom attributes, mappings, and data transformation
• Demonstrate knowledge of the process to add Okta mastered users

Provisioning

• Demonstrate knowledge of what lifecycle management is in Okta
• Demonstrate knowledge of when to use Okta user states and statuses
• Demonstrate knowledge of how to use app assignments, requests, and automations to provision applications to users
• Demonstrate knowledge of how to manage group assignments and rules
• Demonstrate knowledge of the various group types supported by Okta

Workflow

• Demonstrate knowledge of the various methods for activating and deactivating users

Self-Service (End user)

• Demonstrate knowledge of self-service options available to end users 

Okta Integration Network 

• Demonstrate knowledge of the OIN and how to leverage Okta out-of-the-box app integrations
• Demonstrate knowledge of how to search for pre-built integrations and identify the app capabilities

Basic Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
