The Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) is suitable for candidates who play a critical role in the economic evaluation of potential projects. They support the development of budgets, project resource requirements, and value engineering by applying the estimating body of knowledge outlined in AACE’s Recommended Practice 46R-11.

Eligibility Requirements

• 8 years of industry-related experience, or
• 4 years of industry-related experience plus a 4-year industry-related college degree

The Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) Exam covers the following topics - 

• Basic Estimating Knowledge: 50 questions
• Complex Estimating Problems: 24 questions
• Estimating Process & Practices: 45 questions

Exam Instructions

• Memo writing assignment based on a given scenario, with instructions for writing a response in an onscreen text box
• Conditions: Closed book; any style of battery-operated calculator is permitted (not provided by the testing center)
• Passing Score: An overall average score of 70% or higher is required to pass the exam.
• Scoring: The final exam result is calculated by averaging the scores from all four domains.

Score Calculation

• Domain 1: 69% (fail domain)
• Domain 2: 70% (pass domain)
• Domain 3: 65% (fail domain)
• Domain 4: 76% (pass domain)
• Average Score: (69% + 70% + 65% + 76%) / 4 = 70% (pass the exam)
