We shall now describe about the various types of visualization controls including pie, bar, doughnut, and scatter plots and KPIs.

Pie Chart

A pie chart is used when we are trying to work out the composition of something. Also, in the case of categorical data, it is suggested to use a pie chart since each portion can represent a different category. Further, a pie chart is one of the best sources to compare areas of growth within a business-like turnover, profit and geographical area. This one of the most popular visualization controls used.

Bar Chart

When we have comparative data that is required to represent through a chart then it is suggested to use a bar chart. Bar charts are one of the more familiar options as it is simpler to interpret. Moreover, these charts are useful for displaying data divided into nominal or ordinal categories. A bar chart primarily uses bars to represents comparisons between categories of data. Such that, these bars can be displayed horizontally or vertically.

Pie and Doughnut Charts

Pie charts are one of the most commonly used charts for data visualization, primarily because they are as easy to create as they are to understand. We may define a pie chart as a statistical graph for plotting numerical proportions. Such that the independent variable is plotted in either clockwise or anticlockwise direction on the circular graph.

On the other hand, the doughnut chart is a variant of the pie chart. In the same vein, the two charts are similar in the way they look and function, the features of the doughnut chart that set them apart are –

  • Firstly, the doughnut chart has a cut-out centre.
  • Also, the centre of the doughnut chart can be used to present additional information. Then, rendering data labels and data values separately is not required.

Scatter Plot

Scatter plot represents the values for two different numeric variables represented by dots. Such that the position of each dot on the horizontal and vertical axis represents the values for an individual data point. Further, scatter plots are used to observe relationships between variables. Scatter plot are used to observe and represents relationships between two numeric variables. The dots in a scatter plot not only report the values of individual data points, but also patterns when the data are taken as a whole.

Key Performance Indicator (KPI)

A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) represents a measurable value that indicates how effectively a company is achieving key business objectives. Moreover, organizations use KPIs at multiple levels for evaluating success for achieving targets. In which case, high-level KPIs focuses on the overall performance of the business, while low-level KPIs focuses on processes in departments.
