What is CGFNS Qualifying Exam®?

The CGFNS Qualifying Exam® (Certification Program) is designed specifically for first-level, general nurses educated and licensed outside the United States who wish to assess their chances of passing the U.S. registered nurse licensing exam, the NCLEX-RN® examination, and attaining licensure to practice as registered nurses within the United States.

What are the eligibility requirements for appearing in the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®?

In order to be eligible, you must have completed sufficient classroom instruction and clinical practice in

  • Adult health (medical/surgical) nursing
  • Maternal/Infant nursing (obstetrics), excluding gynecology
  • Nursing care of children (pediatrics) and
  • Psychiatric/Mental health nursing, excluding neurology

If you have not completed a sufficient number of hours in each of the above areas, you will not be approved to take the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® until you complete them through a government-approved nursing school. You must also hold an initial license/registration/diploma as a first-level, general nurse in your country of education, and currently hold a license/ registration/diploma as a first-level, general nurse.

What are the learning objectives for the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®?

The Physiological Integrity practice test comprises four sections.

  • Basic care and comfort
  • Pharmacological and parenteral therapies
  • Reduction of risk potential
  • Physiologic Adaptation

How much time will be given to the candidate to complete the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®?

The candidate will be given 3 hours to complete the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®.

In which language the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® is available?

The CGFNS Qualifying Exam® is available in the English language. 

What is the fee structure for the CGFNS exam?

The scheduling fee for the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® is $445 and for retaking the exam, it’s $350.

Where can I apply for the exam?

The candidate can apply online for the exam at https://external.cgfns.org/cerpassweb/login.jsp

What is the format of the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®?

The questions of the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® are available in the form of multiple choice.

After I submit my Certification Program order, how much time do I have to take all required tests?

You have one year to take all required tests once you submit your order for the Certification Program. Your order will expire after 12 months if all requirements for the program have not been met.

What is the Certification Program Reprocess of an Expired Order?

All applicants have 12 months to become Authorized to Test (ATT). If you have not been Authorized to Test in 12 months, your Certification Program order will expire. CGFNS offers applicants the opportunity to reprocess an expired Certification Program order.

What if my Certification Program order expires?

If your Certification Program order expires, you can process another Certification Program order once the status listed on your account is noted as “EXPIRED.” You cannot apply for a reprocess of your expired order until the order status is officially noted as EXPIRED.

What are the benefits of reprocessing my expired order?

Once you reprocess an expired Certification Program order, you automatically have another year to submit all documentation required to become Authorized to Test (ATT).

How do I submit another Certification Program order?

You can submit another Certification Program order by following these simple steps:

  • Login to your CGFNS Connect account and choose the option to purchase a CGFNS service.
  • At the service selection menu, choose Certification Program (CP) Reprocess Application.
  • If it is within one year of your order’s expiration date, you will be automatically prompted to order the reprocess service.

After I submit a new Certification Program order, how much time do I have to become Authorized to Test?

Once you submit a reprocess Certification Program order, you have one year to submit all necessary documentation to become Authorized to Test.

If my Certification Program order expires a second time, can I submit a second Reprocess of an Expired Order?

No. If your Certification Program order expires a second time, a new Certification Program order must be placed at full cost.

May I change my exam date or location once I have made a selection?

Yes. All changes must be done no later than 72 hours before the originally scheduled date and location.

I could not go to the designated location and missed my exam. Can I get a refund?

No. If you do not show up for your scheduled exam, you are not eligible for a refund.

Can I reschedule a Qualifying Exam® using a fee I have already paid?

No. A fee paid for one Qualifying Exam® cannot be used for another Qualifying Exam®.

How can I prepare for the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®?

The candidate has to follow some preparatory step which is mentioned in our tutorial i.e. visiting the official, reading and understanding related books and guides, learning objectives, trying their hands-on practice test, etc.
