For ECS Related Discipline – White

ECS Related Discipline card is specifically for those working professionals in specialized electrotechnical disciplines. But they do not carry out any electrical installation work. In general, professionals working are aligned to or in support of the electrical industry but is not already covered by a core ECS card.

ECS Related Discipline cards are available for:

Field Engineer, Equipment Installer, AV Engineer, Aerial and Satellite Engineer, Security Systems Installer and Control Systems Engineer

  • In case you do not have this card before it is suggested to apply for the same as per the requirements specified.
  • In case you already hold this card from 01 January 2019 you will not be able to renew it against the old criteria and will need to meet the new requirements which will soon be announced. So you will be required to transfer to one of the new occupations listed above.

Eligibility Criterion for ECS Related Discipline card

ECS is expected to release new qualification requirements for initial Related Discipline ECS cards. From 01 January 2019, existing cardholders will have to renew their card against these new requirements. So in order to be eligible for an ECS Related Discipline card, applicants –

  • Must provide a detailed job description from your employer, detailing the type of work undertaking, along with a formal job title. (Note – The ECS Related Discipline card issued will be the most appropriate from the occupations available).
  • Must have a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.

For Academically Qualified Person (AQP) – White

ECS Academically Qualified Person (AQP) Card provides registration for skilled operatives and managers who further hold education or Degree electrotechnical engineering qualifications that do not fit the standard industry recognised electrotechnical occupations. The ECS Academically Qualified Person (AQP) Card indicates the particular specialism and qualification of the cardholder.

Some of the categories available for the Academically Qualified Person (AQP) ECS include:

  • Electrical Engineer (Power)
  • Electrical Engineer (Control)
  • Next, Electrical Engineer (Instrumentation)
  • Electrical Engineer (Communications)
  • Then, Electrical Engineer (Systems)
  • Electrical Engineer (Broadcasting), and Electrical Engineer (Electronics).

Eligibility and requirements for ECS Academically Qualified Person (AQP) Card

  • Must have an electrical engineering Degree or a further education qualification at level 4 or 5 (such as an HND or HNC) in an electrotechnical discipline.
  • Must have a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.

For Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) – White

ECS Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) card has been specifically designed for cardholder’s professional status through their registration with Institute of Engineering and Technology (The IET). Note – The card displays the IET logo on the card. Such that the Professionally Qualified Person card is currently only available to members of the IET.

Eligibility Criterion for ECS Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) card

  • Must be a current member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (The IET)
  • Must have a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.
