Framework Principles are the basis of the governance system as per the COBIT 2019 .

COBIT has two sets of principles –

  • system principle

The principles assist in development of the governance system which is more suitable for the organization. They provide a outline for the organization for the governance and management of the I&T infrastructure. The principles helps companies better focus their efforts. The efforts for the design and implementation of the governance system helps companies better their performance.

The framework principles build a governance system for the organization

The three principles for a governance framework are

  • The COBIT 2019 governance framework should be based on a conceptual model. It involves identifying the key components and relationships among components. This increases consistency and enables  automation.
  • The COBIT 2019 governance framework should be open and flexible. The governance framework  provides provisions for addition of new content. It also provides the ability to address new issues in the most flexible way, while maintaining integrity and consistency.
  • The COBIT 2019 governance framework should be able to align to relevant major related standards, frameworks and regulations.
