COBIT 2019 governance system is based on components which help in achieving the governance and management objectives. They helps organization to better address specific areas of governance and management of I&T infrastructure. The various componenets for governance are unified to provide the required services.

Components are factors influencing the organizational governance and management system, over I&T. Components are discrete and interact amongst themselves for achievement of the governance and management objectives.

The COBIT 2019 framework defines following components for the I&T infrastructure

  • Processes – organized set of practices and activities giving specific outputs for achieving the objectives.
  • Organizational structures – main decision-making entities.
  • Principles, policies and frameworks decode desired behavior into practical guidance.
  • Information – present across the organization needed by the governance and management system.
  • Culture, ethics and behavior – applicable for both individuals and organization which affects achievement of governance and management objectives..
  • People, skills and competencies – for execution and completion of all activities.
  • Services, infrastructure and applications – provides the I&T processing to the governance and management system.

All of the above, form the basic composition of the governance and management system. Every organization need to establish and customize components as per their requirements.
