What are the mandatory training or exam requirements to take the AWS exam?

Training is suggested as part of the preparation, but it is not mandatory for the completion of the certification.

What is the process to register for AWS Certification exam?

In order to register for the exam, you are required to sign in to aws.training and click Certification in the top navigation. Then, click the AWS Certification Account button, followed by the ‘Schedule New Exam’. Chose the exam you wish to take and click either the Schedule at PSI or Schedule at Pearson VUE button. Then you will be redirected to the test delivery provider’s scheduling page, where you will complete your exam registration.

What is the exam retake policy?

Candidates who are unable to clear the exam must wait 14 days before they are eligible to retake the exam. Since there is no limit on exam attempts so you can take the exam until passed. For each exam attempt, the full registration price must be paid. Beta exam test takers are eligible for one attempt only.

What are the service and features covered in the exam?

Since AWS does not publish the list of all services and features covered in a certification exam. But, the exam guide for each exam does list the current topic areas and objectives covered in the exam. Refer to AWS Exam guides.

How will I get my exam result?

On completing the exam, you will receive a pass or fail notification on your testing screen. Since most of the AWS exams use a scale-scoring method. Therefore, you will be receiving an email to confirm your exam completion. Also, your detailed exam results will be available within 5 business days of exam completion in your AWS Certification Account under Previous Exams.

Can I reschedule the exam?

Yes, you can cancel or reschedule your exam up to 24 hours before the scheduled appointment without additional fees. In order to reschedule or cancel your exam, you must go to your AWS Certification Account and click the Manage PSI Exams or Manage Pearson VUE exams button. If you scheduled with PSI, click the “View Details” button on the scheduled exam you wish to manage. But if you scheduled with Pearson VUE, then you should select the scheduled exam you wish to manage from the Upcoming Appointments menu. Please note after reaching the 24-hour window before your scheduled appointment, you cannot cancel or reschedule your exam. So in case you skip your scheduled exam appointment, then the exam fee will be forfeited and you will not be eligible for a refund. Also, you will not be able to register again for the exam until 24 hours after your missed exam time. Note, missing the exam does not result in a “fail” status.

How many times can I reschedule my exam?

You may only reschedule two times after scheduling your original appointment. So in case you wish to reschedule a third time, then you must cancel and schedule a new appointment. The reschedule limit will apply to the new appointment. Exam appointments cannot be cancelled less than 24 hours prior to your appointment.

How can I very my individual certification status?

In order to verify your AWS Certification status, ask the earner for an AWS Certification digital badge link. The Credly’s Acclaim platform, provide digital badges to everyone who earns an AWS Certification to support recognition and verification. Such that digital badge earned against the AWS certification has an option to verify it, which checks and displays the issue date as well as the issuer (AWS Training and Certification). In case your digital badge(s) does not appear on Credly’s Acclaim platform, then you might have more than one AWS Certification Account. Ensure you are logged into the account that holds your required certification(s). If you have more than one AWS Certification Account with the same email address, you will need your accounts merged before you claim your badge(s) on Credly’s Acclaim platform.

In this case, you can purchase AWS Certification exam vouchers, to eliminate the need for candidates to have to pay when scheduling their exam. They simply enter a voucher code when scheduling exams at either Pearson VUE or PSI.

Being a US veteran, is my exam fee eligible for GI Bill reimbursement?

Yes, you are eligible. Any qualifying US veteran covered under a GI Bill with an education provision can submit a reimbursement request to Veterans Affairs for AWS Certification exams taken after December 10, 2015. To qualify, you must purchase your exam via your AWS Certification Account and submit the VA application for reimbursement.

Being a US veteran, is my AWS Training Class Fees fee eligible for GI Bill reimbursement?

No. Only AWS Certification exam fees are eligible. 

I am a Minor, can I take an AWS Certification exam?

All the candidates between 13-17 year are permitted to take AWS Certification exams with the consent of their parent or legal guardian.

What is the process of registration for minor candidates?

What is the best way to prepare for AWS Cloud Practitioner Exam?

One of the best ways to prepare for AWS Cloud Practitioner certification exams is through practical experience. It is suggested to have at least six months to two years of hands-on experience using AWS. AWS also offers training and materials to help in preparation.

Does AWS offer practice test for AWS Certification?

Yes, AWS offers practice exams for all Foundational, Associate, and Professional Exams, as well as most of our Specialty exams. The practice exams will allow you to test your knowledge online in a timed environment, and experience the exam format and platform prior to taking the full exam. Practice exams can be purchased from our exam deliver providers through your AWS Certification Account. The Foundational and Associate-level practice exams are 20 USD and the Professional and Specialty practice exams are 40 USD. Purchase of a practice exam provides you with one attempt.

For how long is the practice exam available for AWS Certification?

The access for the practice exam will expires after 180 days. Also after the practice exam is launched. you will have 30 days to complete the exam, or until the allotted practice exam time expires. Further, you have the option to pause your practice exam by closing out your exam browser. Selecting “End Test” will mark the exam complete and it cannot be restarted. 

How will get my score for practice exam?

On completing the practice exam, a score report will be emailed to you with high-level feedback to help you understand how you scored on the exam content covered on the practice exam. Please note, answers to the practise exam are not provided to the test taker. The exam guide is also provided with the score report to help you with your exam preparation. 

What is the cost of AWS Certification?

AWS Certification are priced in the following manner –

  • Cloud Practitioner exam is 100 USD.
  • Associate-level exams are 150 USD.
  • Professional-level and Specialty exams are 300 USD. 
  • Also, you can renew your certification by using your 50% off voucher code to take the current, full exam at 50% off. Please note that taxes (such as Value Added Tax) may apply. 

What is the process to arrange a special accommodation for the exam?

The Special accommodations will be arranged for you with the test delivery provider, before you register for the exam. What is passing score for AWS Cloud Practitioner Exam?

For AWS Cloud Practitioner exam the passing scores is set by using statistical analysis and are subject to change. Therefore AWS does not publish exam passing scores because exam questions and passing scores are updated to reflect changes in test forms as the content is updated. In general the approximate score for AWS Cloud Practitioner exam is 65%-75%.

How often are the AWS Certification exams updated?

AWS Certification is regularly updated and the questions are rotated with reference to the exam guide. Moreover, any specific changes or revisions to an exam, including changes to an exam guide, will be notified publically.

How soon can we appear for an exam after release of a new product or exam?

In general, a new product, service, or feature is available for 6 months prior to it appearing on a certification exam. This is applicable only for certification exams, and not training. All the training will cover new services and features more quickly. Such that the AWS Certification team ensures that candidates get enough time to work with new services and features before the final assessment against the new material.

What is the difference in scoring for practice exam and live exam?

Firstly the practice exams are scored based on percent basis. For instance, if you answer 15 out of 20 practice questions correctly, then your score is 15/20 or 75%. Mostly the practice exams are considered as a useful preparation tool to help you assess your preparation.

On the other hand, the live certification exams are reported as a score from 100 to 1000. Such that the score indicates your performance on the examination. AWS scaled scoring models are used to equate scores across multiple exam forms that may have slightly different difficulty levels. Scaled scores are a mathematical conversion of the number of items that a candidate correctly answers so that there is a consistent scale used across all forms of an exam.
